Allport announced today that the company have taken a majority interest in the Hungarian packaging manufacturer WPA Kft of Budapest (WPA.
John Morris, Managing Director of WPA, who will remain with the business, said. "Over the last five years we have built a successful business serving multi-national exporters who have relocated to Central Europe. We have now reached a stage where, to support continued growth of the business, a partner was needed and we are delighted to have Allport alongside us as we go forward."
The WPA business complements Allport's existing packaging business and Dennis Lewis, Chairman of Allport Packaging, commented. "The fact that multi-national manufacturers continue to locate in Central Europe prompted us to consider investment in the region. Initially, we retained UK customers who were relocating by servicing via exports whilst we identified a suitable partner with whom to work. WPA are a natural fit, as we have had a trading relationship with them for a number of years and we are pleased to partner with a business that has an enviable growth record in the region. The business will continue on a profitable growth agenda in the Central European market".
"Increasingly, as customers seek pan European, if not pan Global, packaging solutions this partnership will support such demands as we leverage resources in the UK and Central Europe."
