Allport award scooped by Winemaker of the Year

With it's renowned mix of rigorous 'blind tasting' and technical analysis, the IWSC sets the international benchmark for quality in the wine and spirits trade.

It is the premier wine competition, attracting over 7,000 entries from 80 countries, competing for a range of Product and Producer trophies.

Volumes continue to increase on Allport's Beers, Wines and Spirits services, particularly from Pacific Rim countries, so it is appropriate that Allport sponsored the award for the top Australian Wine Producer, announced in London on 27th November.

The trophy for Top Australian Wine Producer was awarded by the IWSC judges to McGuigan Wines.

Winemaking is a family affair for the McGuigans, who have been producing wine for four generations.

Their commitment and passion for Australian wine was demonstrated by their impressive haul from the 2009 IWSC. In addition to the Allport sponsored Producer trophy, they won a clutch of medals for individual wines and the accolade for International Wine Maker of the Year.
